Rehabilitation Is Endless For Alistair Brownlee

Alistair Brownlee, one of Britain’s finest triathletes tore his Achilles tendon that may put a slight crimp in his Olympic gold medal bid. But he is taking to the water in order to rehab as quickly as possible.

The BBC reported that Alistair is using an Endless Pools underwater treadmill for low-impact water walking and running.

Physiotherapist Emma Deakin told BBC that despite the tendon tear, Alistair is still training while being creative in matching his rehabilitation to his normal training load.

There were various options. He is now using an Endless Pools underwater treadmill. “It’s an impressive piece of kit. It’s taken up the whole of his garden, which his housemates helped to dig up to get it in. You can set the depth of the water which means Alistair can gradually increase the load through his rehab.”
