Rita Medrano And Alex Merada Win USA Collegiate Open Water Championships

Texas A&M’s Rita Medrano, Liz Nelson, and Maureen McLaine finished first, second, and third to lead the Aggies past Rice University, the former ASA Open Water Swimming national champions, at the 4th Annual ASA Open Water Swimming National Collegiate Championship. Texas A&M scored 284 points; Rice finished second with 183 points and Trinity scored 105 points to finish third.

Trinity University won on the men’s side for the third straight year.

Rita Medrano (shown above) swam the 5K course in a swift 1:03:05. Trinity’s Alex Merada swim led a strong Trinity University and completed the course in 1:06:12.
