Courtesy of WOWSA, Huntington Beach, California. Deanne Draeger reported that the Rose Pitonof Centennial Swim blossomed to a grand success. The 17-mile memorial swim went from Manhattan Island to Coney Island in New York as the 100th anniversary of Rose Pitonof‘s historic swim.

Rose Pitonof was a marathon swimmer from Dorchester, Massachusetts who won the 1910 Boston Light Swim and then was known for her title of Long Distance Swimming Champion of the World.
