Round Jersey And Jersey France Season Fills Up

Charlie Gravett, Vice President of the Jersey Long Distance Swimming Club announced there are now 26 booked 41-mile Round Jersey and Jersey to France swims.

15 of those Jersey to France include both solos and a relay from the Jersey Juniors, a mob of 14+ year old youngsters all with a growing CV of swims to their names, are all great prospects for the future. Hidden away within the 11 Round Jersey swims are the British Inter-Services annual tussle.

But this year to make it a little more interesting, we shall be welcoming a team from The United States Air Force care of Tim Lawrence along with the Jersey LDSC and ‘Battle Back’ a team of severely disabled Servicemen and women many with lost limbs due to Service in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

That six team, six man relay will be during the first week of September

Also Sally Anne Minty-Gravett (shown above), an International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame inductee who successfully crossed the English Channel four times over the course of four sequential decades and is President of the Jersey Long Distance Swimming Club, will attempt an unprecedented 82-mile double circumnavigation of Jersey Island. The swim was first proposed by the late Dave Parcells and is dedicated to his memory.

Charlie reminds the growing marathon swimming community, “For those contemplating a future Jersey swim, be aware most slots are taken by the previous Christmas. I have put a hold on future bookings for this season.
