Simone Ruffini is swimming well, heading into Rio.

The Italian star won the third leg of the FINA/HOSA 10 km Marathon Swimming World Cup in Lake Balaton in Hungary today over a number of his Olympic rivals.

Other Rio Olympians in the race included Allan Do Carmo, (BRA), Ivan Enderica Ochoa (ECU), Christian Reichert (GER), Federico Vanelli (ITA), Yasunari Hirai (JPN) and Sean Ryan (USA).

Ruffini explained about the race, “I’m extremely happy to win this race. I fell in love with Lake Balaton, today we have perfect circumstances so you can’t have any better feeling to win a competition like this at one of your favourite venues. The field was really strong so it makes this win even more valuable. I’m really looking forward to return here next year for the World Championships.”
