Safety Issues To Be Discussed At The Global Open Water Swimming Conference

Existential angst, malaise…physical duress…sensory deprivation…swimming in fogged goggles…the majesty of the ocean…trip the mind fantastic…the sport is a microcosism of life itself…

Diana Nyad can eloquently describe her swims like few others…in English, German, Spanish…

Before she began on her latest quest to swim from Cuba to America, she asked herself, “How do I spend my time?” and “What am I going to do in the rest of my life?” and “Do you have it?”

She is chasing her extreme dream with an utter conviction and unwavering passion that is embedded in the DNA of many adventures. Nyad will bring her eloquence and love of swimming to the 2012 Global Open Water Swimming Conference where she and others will discuss safety issues with luminaries from the Channel Swimming Association, Sandycove Swimming Club, Catalina Channel Swimming Federation, International Ice Swimming Association, Tsugaru Channel Swimming Association, Lake Tahoe Swimming Society, USA Triathlon, International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame and dozens of other open water swimming organizations and associations from at least 17 countries.

A special panel of experts will convene at the 2012 Global Open Water Swimming Conference to discuss and recommend safety procedures, policies and protocols that will range from issues related to extreme water temperatures to marine life. For more information on the Conference, visit here.
