Scott McQuade Glad To Be Back In The Swim Of Things

Scott McQuade from Wishaw, North Lanarkshire effectively spends his time at work managing teams of virtual, remote and direct as a Global Programme Manager at Dell, but the Scottish swimmer had gotten out of touch with the water for 20 years.

A friend at work wanted to do the Great Scottish Swim in Loch Lomond and talked me into it,” McQuade recalls as he reflected upon his competitive swimming days of his youth.

I am so glad that she did. Now, I look forward to heading up to Bardowie Loch for training on a Sunday, especially since I hadn’t really been back in the pool on a regular basis for about 20 years.”

After a two-decade respite from the pool, McQuade got back into the swim of things in 2013 with a 2-mile swim Loch Lomond and a 5 km swim in Loch Ard.

I try and get into the pool a couple of times a week depending on how family and work life impacts on that. As yet, I’ve only been in lochs, but would like to try something else in the future. I’ve already signed up for the Loch Ard 12.5 km in September – hopefully I’ll get signed up for a couple more as well.”
