Seal Beach Rough Water Swim, A California Classic
The Seal Beach Swim Club hosted the 42nd Annual Seal Beach Rough Water Swim this past weekend.Events included the 1- and 3-mile courses as well as the 200 yard swim for boys and girls ages 7-8, the 400 yard for boys and girls ages 9-10, the 800 yard for boys and girls ages 11-12, and the 1200 yard for boys and girls ages 13-14.
Sarah Zito (left), age 20, a surfer from Garden Grove, California was among the women’s competitors in the 1-mile event. Sarah’s boyfriend Chris Fees was planning on swimming the event so rather than sit on the sidelines, Sarah decided to give it a try too when she got to the registration area. “It was an awesome first experience for me! I’ve missed swimming since graduating high school so it was great to be back in the water. Winning my age division made it an even better day. I hope to do more of these swims and try longer distances.” Not only was she excited just being able to finish the event, Sarah placed first in her age group and was already asking about when the next race was.
