The Second Night of Diana Nyad’s Xtreme Dream

It was a whale of a night near the midpoint between Cuba and Florida. Out of nowhere, a gentle pod of 10-15 whales crossed Nyad’s path where the horizon stretched for as far as the eye could see.

Swimming laterally to their human colleague, the whales were a pleasant sight. Showing off their majestic girth and length, the whales spouted off and gave Nyad a good omen as they entered the second night on the Caribbean Sea.

As the sun settled down beyond fluffy white clouds patches, the sky erupted in vibrant shades of oranges and reds against an increasingly darker canvas. It was soon the stars turn to twinkle and show off their celestial brilliance. [Read More…]
