The Economist will host the second World Ocean Summit on February 24th-26th, 2014 in Half Moon Bay, San Francisco. The purpose of the ocean sustainability summit is to discuss how economic growth and ocean conservation can be reconciled.
“We are also delighted to announce that Ocean Recovery Alliance is an official supporting organisation for the summit,” announced Doug Woodring, Founder of Ocean Recovery Alliance. “Participants in the summit will look towards solutions and the role business can play. Good governance is difficult to forge. The sustainable use of our seas is equally essential and intimately linked to better governance. The challenge now is to design a regime which successfully balances economic development with sustainability. World Ocean Summit 2014 offers delegates the opportunity to shape debate about governance of the ocean.”
