Shannon Gillespy, a long-time renowned swim coach from Texas and a former member of the board of directors of USA Swimming, was recently selected to the American 2012 Olympic swim team staff.
Shannon will be the team manager for the American open water swim team and will also work with the pool team.
Shannon explained her role and attitude, “When coaches are not coaching I am the person that takes care of the athletes I make sure they have everything they need to focus solely on swimming their best race possible. Whatever it takes to build a champion.”
As a manager, Shannon always receives rave reviews by the swimmers and her colleagues at the national team staff during domestic and international events. Experienced at competitions in Canada, Italy, China, England and throughout the United States, she will travel to Florida and Canada with the swimmers before heading to the 2012 London Olympics in order to help support the American open water swimming medalist hopefuls.
