Despite being attacked by a shark during his Molokai Channel crossing, Adherbal de Oliveira returned back to his Brazilian home and still takes to the ocean.

He recently assisted Rodrigo Gralha Garcia in the Travessia do Leme ao Pontal.

He explained the shark attack and his rapid, remarkable recovery, “I am getting better. I experienced two attacks. One in the abdomen that only had the shark’s teeth marks in it. The other bite was on my thigh. On the thigh, there was a large wound – but I won’t have leg movement problems.

My recovery is good and should take two to three months.

As a bonus, I was doing a very good swim. As they say here in Brazil: forward ball!”
