Sharon Van Rouwendaal Named OW Swimmer Of The Year

22-year-old Sharon van Rouwendaal continued the Dutch tradition of coming on top of the open water swimming world, winning the 2016 Rio Olympic Games 10 km marathon swim and being named Swimming World Magazine’s Female Open Water Swimmer of the Year.
She followed in the wake of Herman Willemsee, Judith van Berkel de Nijs, Monique Wildshut, Edith van Dijk, Linsy Heister, Maarten van der Weijden, and Ferry Weertman, as Dutch swimmers who reached the pinnacle of the world of open water swimming.
