Steffie Gomez Becomes A Triple Crowner

The Catalina Channel Swimming Federation reported that Steffie Gomez and Abby Ortega swam together across the Catalina Channel in 12 hours 30 minutes.

Gomez completed her Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming with the 32.3 km crossing between Santa Catalina Island and the Southern California mainland. She previously completed the 45.9 km 20 Bridges Manhattan Island Swim around Manhattan Island in New York in 9 hours 26 minutes in 2018 and a 33.5 km crossing of the English Channel from England to France in 13 hours 34 minutes in 2019.

Her tandem teammate Ortega had recently completed a crossing of the English Channel in July and has now completed her second leg of the Triple Crown.

Their support team included Arturo Villafuerte, José Olvera, and Esteban Riva Palacio with observers Roxanne and Robin Hipolito, and Joel Virgel.
