Stephen Junk: Hero

Stephen Junk: Hero

Stephen Junk is a 61-year-old Australian embryologist and open water swimmer with 6 of the Oceans Seven channels completed along with the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming under his belt. But his heroics do not stop there.

Dr Junk pulled four people from the Greens Pool, a popular tourist spot in Western Australia where he often swims. Three of the people lived. “I wish I had been there 15 minutes earlier,” he said after seeing three people clinging to an offshore rock in an area known as the plughole. He swam out to the area and pulled each one back to shore one by one. Unfortunately, the fourth man passed away on the beach despite attempts to revive him.
