Stroke by stroke, mile by mile, hour by hour, day by day, month by month.

That is what is takes in training and preparation for a successful Great Lake Swim. Off camera and behind the scenes, Jamie Patrick‘s 71-mile (114 km) solo traverse along the shorelines of Lake Michigan takes a whole lot of time, energy, training and logistics to pull off.

While he trains daily in his native California, Patrick and his crew are in Lake Michigan this week to do lots of swimming in the Chicago Harbor, South Chicago, and Milwaukee Bay. Testing the waters before the August 18th attempt that will be broadcast live in its entirety by Doug Stanley and the team from Ridgeline Entertainment.
