Sunburned And Spent, Swimmers On The Mend

After a tough race in a sun-drenched environment like Playa del Carmen, Mexico, the professional marathon swimmers from around the world all do various things the next day.
They are mostly mellow and recovering from a difficult day in the office.
Angela Maurer did an easy 3,000m warm-down session in the pool and generally relaxed and recuperated with her partner-coach Nicholai Evseev.
Pilar Geijo and her coach-husband Diego Tricárico looked like a honeymooning couple enjoying themselves on paddle boards in the Caribbean Sea.
The men from the Italian Polizia di Stato, including Simone Ercoli and Edoardo Stochino and their coaches, relaxed on the beach soaking up even more sun.
Older athletes like Tomi Stefanovski, the 43-year-old ageless wonder who has had numerous surgeries on both shoulders, take a little more time to recover. “It was a tough swim under a hot sun yesterday with the waves. I just need to relax a little and get ready for next Saturday [and the upcoming FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup].”
With an expected start list of 60 athletes, it is going to be some classic dual among the professional marathon swimmers and against the elements.
