Super Secret Open Water Swimming Moves

There are numerous rarely-taught, rarely-discussed and rarely-seen tactical moves that are done in open water races by super competitive, experienced triathletes and open water swimmers – sometimes purposefully, sometimes inadvertently. These moves exist not only at the highest echelon of the sport, but also at lifeguard competitions, triathlons and mass participation races among swimmers of all ages and abilities.

In this move, an athlete can gain a half-stroke to a full stroke advantage over a competitor by timing their stroke together with their competitor and placing their hand on top of their competitor’s hand and literally taking a stroke together with their unsuspecting competitor. The momentum gained will result in a half-stroke to full stroke advantage.
