Surf Was Pumping At The Fiji Ocean Swim Series

Big ocean swells met the swimmers in Fiji Ocean Swim Series at Yatule Beach Resort Natadola. For most, the thought of even getting through the surf was daunting.

Given the conditions, Paul McCoy decided against the usual series format of 1K, 2.5K and 5K distances for shorter point-to-point courses.

In the 1.7K female division, Tieri Erasito was first, Carissa Panuve was second and Iris Pene was third. In the 1.7K male division, Douglas Miller was first, Brosnan Erbsleben was second and Alex Kiechle was third In the 2.5K race, Lucy Joyce won over Emily Maybin and Iris Pene. Alex Kiechle took first with Sean Chow second and Finn Eden third. The 5K race counted as one of the selection races for the Fiji Open Water Swim Team to this year’s Pacific Games. Douglas Miller finished first with Ilai Khalek second and Tongli Panuve third. Among the young ladies, Tieri Erasito was first with Sky Eden second.
