Description

Alex started off his interest in swimming at school where he raced at breaststroke and Individual Medley and ended up becoming captain of the school. Alex had an ultimate goal at a very early age to swim the English Channel. After competing in numerous triathlons but always striving for longer distance he completed the Marathon des Sables 2009 followed by the Nice Ironman in 2014. Swimming was Alex’s favoured leg and he had a strong preference for distance. He completed the Thames Marathon Swim 2016 a 13km swim race near London. This was one of his preparation swims for his successful English Channel Solo crossing in 2019 completing the swim in 15hrs 51mins. The last 4 hours of the swim were particularly testing as he hit strong tides approaching France, landing just before midnight. He remains one of a few who are known to have completed the Marathon des Sables considered to be the world’s toughest footrace and swim the English Channel, one of the world’s toughest swim’s.
