Swim For The Canterbury Earthquake Appeal

A 1K swim for the Canterbury Earthquake Appeal on February 26th at the Milford Beach Reserve in Auckland is being quickly organized. 100% of the cash donations will be sent to the Canterbury Earthquake Appeal in light of the recent tragedy in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Scott Rice of Quantum Events publicly thanked Simon Bucherer and Sarah Ley-Bucherer who came up with this idea to support the Canterbury Earthquake Appeal, and to Surf Lifesaving New Zealand for their support of this event.

Christchurch remains in a state of emergency for the next five days as residents of the City go about securing their lives and property.

Scott, who cancelled the next leg of the New Zealand Ocean Swim Series, explained, “While this [cancellation] will undoubtedly cause some disruption to those entered in this year’s Corsair Classicevent, we have thoughts only at the moment for the people of Canterbury and wish to extend our sympathies to all who have lost loved ones or suffered damage to their homes, place of work or indeed lost their livelihoods as a consequence of the earthquake and the incredible damage caused.”
