In yesterday’s women’s Olympic 10K Marathon Swim qualification race in Setúbal Bay in Portugal, teammates raced each other in addition to trying to qualify for the Rio Olympics. China’s Xin Xin (1st in 1:55:12.1) beat teammate Siyu Yan (11th in 1:56:53.20). Australia’s Chelsea Gubecka (4th in 1:55:34.30) beat teammate Kareena Lee (7th in 1:55:50.20), Canada’s Stephanie Horner (15th in 1:57:26.40) beat teammate Jade Dusablon (17th in 1:57:30.60), Portugal’s Vania Neves (16th in 1:57:27.20) beat teammate Angelica Maria Riberiro Andre (19th in 1:57:56.20).

Today, it is the men’s race. The coaches are in position on the feeding station [see above] while the water off the Atlantic coast remains a comfortable 18ºC under sunny skies. The water is a bit more churned up with a slight wind compared with the women’s race yesterday.
