Swimming Across The Minch

Swimming Across The Minch

Hannah Smith, a 21-year-old fourth-year medical student from Glasgow, Scotland, is aiming to become the fastest person to swim across the Little Minch (formerly known as Scotland’s fjord).

I decided that this was the perfect year to attempt what has been a longstanding dream of mine: to swim across the Minch.”

It is 15 miles from Skye on the mainland to the Isle of Harris, Outer Hebrides. I am from Uig, which is on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis – the most northerly Outer Hebridie, in 13°C water,” said Hannah. “I am also fundraising for two charities – Breast Cancer Care and The Leanne Fund – which are national and local charities respectively.”
