Swimming For A Cause With Flowers

14 Olympians, including American gold medalist BJ Bedford (on left) with dozens of earned Olympic hardware have been feted in a variety of events throughout the week leading up to the annual Flowers Sea Swim in the Cayman Islands.

Spokesperson Dara Flowers-Burke has keep the ambiance lively, animated and festive in the lead-up for the 1-mile event. With 936 entrants, the most in its history, over 25% of the participants have flown in from foreign countries with the warm hospitality continuing day and night by the host.

Besides the challenge and allure of a mile swim along Seven Mile Beach, the event itself is a runaway success where 100% of the registration proceeds go to a local charity, Feed Our Future Cayman.

On radio, on television, in the local press, the tag team of Frank Flowers and his daughter Dara have exceeded their initial dreams and have created the largest annual sporting event on Grand Cayman.

Every year, everyone has been so helpful and generous with their time,” gushed Dara on the local Cayman 27 television program. Besides the registration proceeds, last night’s Olympians Gala where thousands of additional dollars were raised.

All for a good cause.
