Swimming From South To North In Lake Tahoe

Dave Van Mouwerik successfully completed a south-to-north crossing of Lake Tahoe on August 14th. Dave eloquently described his 13 hour 51 minute here (with such passages as “…the first eight and a half hours were excellent— swimming under a full moon, exquisitely calm water, the escort boat running with no lights, the muted lights of glow sticks hanging off of the escorting paddle board and kayaks, watching the slow process of the sunrise off my right shoulder…).”

The last five hours were rough business indeed with significant chop and swell. The ending was at Hyatt Beach in Incline Village.

I think this swim has a lot of potential for future traditional marathon open water swimmers. Ken Harmon was a great resource for me as I prepared for this event

His first-hand account is here.
