The Cyprus Swimming Federation organizes the 5K and 10K Cyprus International Swimming Marathon (International Marathon 5 & 10 km Limassol).
Cyprus is a popular tourist island destination in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, east of Greece and south of Turkey.
According to Michael Tyson, the course has small buoys every 250 meters and a large turn buoy at the 1250-meter turn-around.
The course is straight for the first 1 kilometer, then shifts 30°C to the right for the last 250 meters of the leg. The participants swim between the beach and the rocky breakwater after an in-water start which necessitates navigating currents and surf break.
The youth-dominated competition athletes from France, Italy, Israel, Greece and Cyprus.
