Swimming In Salt

SwimTrek has attracted numerous Americans to its European swim holidays.

Now the reverse is happening.

SwimTrek is coming to the United States with its first week-long swim adventure along the Salt River in the western American state of Arizona.

Mark Burgess explains, “SwimTrek has launched its first all American adventure in Arizona, which will take swimmers on a journey through the jaw-dropping landscape and wildlife that surrounds the waters of the Salt River.

The small group – a maximum of 14 people – is led by experienced guides with full safety escorts. The average daily swim distance is 3 miles per day, broken down into individual swims of 1 to 2 miles. This action-packed trip sees us explore the surroundings of Saguaro Lake, Canyon Lake and Apache Lake as we journey through stunning Arizona’s National Forest. Evenings are spent at the secluded Saguaro Lake Ranch, a rustic comfortable base which has echoes of an era of gold prospecting, cattle drives and gunfights.

The 7-day trips depart on October 1st and 8th October. The price is £1,770 (about US$2,548) per person, based on twin share accommodation, which includes fully-guided swims with safety escort, accommodation, all breakfasts, lunches and dinners. The price does not include flights or transport to or from the start point, nor evening drinks
