Swimming The Strait of Bonifacio

The Strait of Bonifacio (Corsican: Bucchi di Bunifaziu, French: Bouches de Bonifacio, Gallurese: Bocchi di Bunifaciu, Italian: Bocche di Bonifacio) is the strait between Corsica in France and Sardinia in Italy, named after the Corsican town Bonifacio. The strait divides the Tyrrhenian Sea from the western Mediterranean Sea and is notorious among sailors for its weather, currents, shoals, and other obstacles.

The World Open Water Swimming Association called the cross-border crossing is one of the World’s Top 100 Island Swims.
