If you find yourself swimming in rivers or estuaries in Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Borneo, watch out for the giant freshwater stingray.

The bottom-dwelling species can grow upwards to 1.9 meters across and may reach 600 kg in weight, but it faces heavy fishing pressure for meat, recreation, and aquarium display as well as suffers from extensive habitat degradation.
