Tomasz Pąchalski, the organizer of BCT Gdynia Marathon (Morski Maraton Pływacki BCT Gdynia) in Poland, announced a new professional marathon swim from the Hel Peninsula to the city of Gdynia in Poland, offering a US$10,000 first prize for both men and women. The new 18.5K event will take place August 24-26 2012, soon after the 2012 London Olympics.
