“We are looking for swimmers to enter the ½-mile, 1-mile, or 2.4-mile event,” requests Rebecca Collins, herself a cancer survivor. Her husband, Ron, is a co-race director. “We’re also looking for volunteers to help out with event support as kayakers, power boaters and paddle boarders. All swimmers and volunteers will be given our event t-shirt and refreshments at the conclusion of the swim.
This swim is a great opportunity to raise funds for cancer research, prevention and treatment in our community.”
Swim Across America is dedicated to raising money and awareness for cancer research, prevention and treatment through pool and open water swims. “With the help of hundreds of volunteers nationwide and past and current Olympians, Swim Across America is helping find a cure for cancer through athleticism, community outreach and direct service,” says Janel McArdle, a 1988 Olympian and president of the nationwide organization.
