On Friday, their 22-mile open water swimming relay around the Boston Harbor Islands brings together 75 swimmers and a massive fund-raising effort on behalf of the Perini Quality of Life Clinic at the Dana-Farber Hospital and Mass General Hospital for Children.
The swimmers spend time swimming in between two large escort boats while socializing and gazing at the Boston skyline and ocean horizon. For an open water swimmer, it is one of the most magnificent ways to spend a leisurely Friday during summer.
Towards the end of the event, all the swimmers jump off the boats and swim to shore to join their family, friends, and donors of one of the largest charity swims in America.
