Today, one of the largest open water swims in America is held. Swim Miami Presented by Nike will entertain over 800 swimmers, triathletes and weekend warriors will take over Watson Island for a number of distances a 10 km race.
Race Director Jonathan Strauss says “The event keeps growing every year because we make the atmosphere fun and safe for the competitors, plus who doesn’t want to swim with such an amazing backdrop.”
The weekend kicked off yesterday with a clinic hosted by FINIS’ Luane Rowe. Swimmers include the 2012 World Open Water Swimming Woman of the YearAnnaleise Carr who will enter the 5 km race. Proceeds of the event benefit the H2Os Foundation, an organization committed to providing learn to swim lessons to those that cannot afford the opportunity.
