An open water swimming wonk notices the tiny details planned and prepared by the world’s most astute race directors and their hard-working professional and volunteer staff.
The extraordinary attention to detail as performed annually by the staff of the Traversée internationale du lac St-Jean never ceases to amaze and educate open water swimming wonks. The level of preparedness of the staff is simply taken for granted by the assembled field of athletes nowadays.
But the casing around the finish-line high-speed cameras are one of these excellent nice touches because you just never know when it could rain on race day.
