Andrea Kelly of Head to the Hills is offering a new 16.1 km stage swim series in the Lake District in the UK, the Great Lake District Swim Challenge.

The Great Lake District Swim Challenge is split into the east and west. Each Lake District series is a non-stop stage swim adventure where the swimmers will cross the width, sometimes twice, of 17 lakes in the allotted time before moving onto the next venue by chartered mini-bus.

Kelly explains, ““The Lake District attracts thousands of swimmers each year to organised events, but this new challenge aims to capture the imagination and adventurous spirit of swimmers. “The Great Lake District Swim Challenge will allow us to really showcase the beauty – and the beast – of the Lake District with its clear waters and soaring mountains.” The two weekends are August 8th and– 9th August and September 5th and 6th. Accommodations are included in the challenge fee.”

The stage swim traverses over 214 miles across 17 lakes over 4 days with a total of 16.1 km of open water swimming. The shortest swim is 500m while the longest swim is 2 km.
