The Japan Open Sends Off Its Olympians

Yasunari Hirai and Yumi Kida, Japan’s two representatives at the Olympic 10 km Marathon Swim at the London Games, will receive a nice send-off at this weekend’s Japan Open in Tateyama.

The 4 km relay and 10 km solo swim is the most competitive open water swim among the hundreds of events in Japan.

One of the joys of being an Olympian is the send-off that many of these athletes receive from their teammates, hometown communities and fans.

Hirai and Kida will certainly be celebrated as they do their final open water swim before standing on the pontoons in the Serpentine on August 9th and 10th.
