Has open water swimming come of age? Has open water swimming become a topic of conversation at work and school? Are swimmers becoming more well-known? It certainly appears to be in the case. When Annaleise Carr becomes a sensation in Canada, when Keri-Anne Payne becomes a showcase athlete in Great Britain, when Lynne Cox wows the literary world with her new books, when Lewis Pugh’s actions cause major corporations to take pause, filmmakers start thinking about documenting the interesting lifestyles and unusual mindsets of open water swimmers.

In addition to The Other Shore, Defeating Oceans Seven, a documentary by Red Bull Media House, and Driven – The Marathon Swimming Documentary, a film financed by crowdfunding, are also being released over the next several weeks.
