Time And Opportunities Run Out For The Bering Strait Relay

Extreme swimmer and filmmaker Jack Bright had to break some bad news to his fellow teammates on their planned relay swim across the Bering Strait.

Their Russian ship, the Akademik Schokalskiy, was ready to guide them from the Russian side of the Bering Strait to the American side, but the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow sent a very late-date telegram advising them not to go. Ultimately, the owner of their mother ship forbid the captain and ship from going.

The frustrated extreme swimmers from the UK, USA, Argentina, South Africa, Italy, Estonia and Russia were sent home without getting wet.
