Tom Hecker Crosses Another One
LAKE TAHOE. Tom Hecker, co-chairman of the La Jolla Cove Swim Club knocked off another one of his marathon swimming goals as a charter member of several Half Century Clubs. With the English Channel (15:21), Manhattan Island Marathon Swim (8:20), Catalina Channel (10:45) and Strait of Gibraltar (3:40) under his swim cap, he successfully crossed Lake Tahoe (22.1 miles) in 15 hours 9 minutes from Camp Richardson in California to Hyatt Beach in Nevada as the oldest swimmer on record. With no end in sight, the energetic 59-year-old from San Diego continues to set his sights on other channels around the world

He is Chief Executive Officer of KAATSU Global and KAATSU Research Institute. Inductee in the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame (Honor Swimmer, Class of 2001) and Ice Swimming Hall of Fame (Honor Contributor - Media, Class of 2019), recipient of the International Swimming Hall of Fame's Poseidon Award (2016), International Swimming Hall of Fame's Irving Davids-Captain Roger Wheeler Memorial Award (2010), USA Swimming's Glen S. Hummer Award (2007, 2010) and Harvard University's John B. Imrie Award (1984). Served on the FINA Technical Open Water Swimming Committee and as Technical Delegate with the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games, and 9-time USA Swimming coaching staff.
