Tony Trubiano Of Swimming Canada Honored

Tony Trubiano of Montreal was honored by Swimming Canada and presented with the Ken Flippelli Award.

Both Tony has contributed countless hours to Canadian swimming, and we are truly grateful,” said Pierre Lafontaine, CEO and National Coach for Swimming Canada.

The Ken Filippelli Award honors an outstanding Canadian official who by way of dedication and efforts has made difference to swimming in Canada.

Tony has been volunteering and officiating for over 20 years. Tony got involved as a timer while his son was swimming rather than sit in the stands and has developed an expertise in the open water events which helped him get appointed to the Open Water FINA List in 2004.

He has acted as Chair of open water events at every summer Quebec Games since 2002, has worked many open water races at the national level and international meets such as the Traversée du Lac St-Jean and the Traversée du Lac Memphrémagog for the last three years. He was appointed in 2007 to officiate open water during the Pan American Games and served as a liaison at the 2010 FINA World Open Water Championships.
