Guy Moar, a member of the Australian Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame, completed his fifth Oceans Seven channel* across the Molokai Channel from the island of Molokai to Oahu in Hawaii on April 17th.
Tim Denyer of Red Top Swim reported, “Guy swam in extremely tough conditions with high winds and very unhelpful currents. We amended the target finishing beach 4 times [during the swim].”
His time was 19 hours 29 minutes, observed by Michael Twigg-Smith.
* Moar completed a crossing of the Molokai Channel in 2022, the English Channel in 11 hours 3 minutes in 2010, the Strait of Gibraltar in 4 hours 3 minutes in 2014, the North Channel from Northern Ireland to Scotland in 11 hours 9 minutes, the the Tsugaru Channel from Honshu to Hokkaido in 11 hours 32 minutes in 2015.
