Doug Hughson established the 59 km4 Bridges to Lighthouse in January 2023 whenHelen Conway will make the first attempt from New Norfolk Bridge in the Historic Town of New Norfolk to the Iron Pot Lighthouse that marks the entrance to the Derwent River in the cool waters of Storm Bay.
Rod Watkinspioneered a 22.3 km river swim in 6 hours 51 minutes from the Tasman Bridge to the Iron Pot at the mouth of the Derwent River in 6 hours 51 minutes which may be the new course for a marathon swim:
