
Traversée Internationale du Lac St-Jean Recognized with Silver at WOWSA Event of the Year Awards
The Traversée Internationale du Lac St-Jean, a professional and amateur open water swimming competition held in lac St-Jean in Roberval, Québec, Canada, has been honored with the silver award in the Event of the Year category at the WOWSA Awards.
The Traversée Internationale du Lac St-Jean has been a staple in the open water swimming community for over 65 years. With a focus on the athletes, this event has long been considered one of the greatest professional marathon swims in history. The entire community comes together to celebrate the exploits and abilities of all participants, from the fastest to the slowest, in this competition that is usually held in late July.

The WOWSA Awards, an annual recognition of excellence in open water swimming, celebrates individuals and offerings that embody the spirit of open water swimming and have made a positive impact on the community. Over 143 nominations were evaluated by the 97 members of the WOWSA Awards Voting Academy, and Traversée Internationale du Lac St-Jean was one of the 10 finalists chosen from 23 different countries for the Event of the Year category.
More than 11,400 public votes were cast, with a 75% weighting from the WOWSA Academy and 25% from the general public, to determine the winners in each category. Traversée Internationale du Lac St-Jean was selected for its long-standing tradition of excellence in open water swimming and its commitment to the athletes.
