Triathlon Taps Open Water Orator

She engages. She entertains. She educates.

She makes you laugh. She makes you wince. She makes you wonder.

She is eloquent. She sings. And her punch lines are perfect.

And USA Triathlon wants to tap into her energy and enthusiasm for endurance.

Diana Nyad will serve as the keynote speaker at the 2012 USA Triathlon Art & Science of Triathlon International Coaching Symposium in October in San Diego, California.

Among her stints in front of the camera, Diana served as a television announcer for 10 years for ABC Sports and worked five different Olympic Games and numerous world championships.

Never a loss for words that bring the sport of open water swimming alive with drama and color, the eloquent speaker has a gift – she can make the simple act of taking stroke after stroke in the ocean seem like the most exquisite and extraordinary activity on the planet, requiring a streamlined coordination of muscular activity balanced against the unpredictable idiosyncrasies of nature, performed by superhuman individuals buoyed by their own inner ambitions and psychological strengths who can overcome seemingly insurmountable physical barriers and dangerous marine life.
