Trinity Masters Swimming Is Only The Tip of The Iceberg

Trinity Masters Swimming in Trinidad are similar to thousands of other formal and informal open water swimming clubs, teams, squads and groups around the world, aided and enhanced by modern technology.

A shout-out, a meet-up, a group text, a Facebook message, a ping, an email…these are all modern-day ways to call your friends and teammates to head towards the open water and join in a swim, a training session or a race.

One of the reasons for the international growth of open water swimming is this ability to interact with each other, easily and conveniently. From Sandycove in Ireland to Cape Town in South Africa, from La Jolla Cove in California to Melbourne in Australia, open water swimmers of the previous generations never had the ease of communication that helps generate the online camaraderie and onshore collegiality that have helped define the sport.
