Under the leadership of Head Coach Dave Salo with assistants Kevin Clements and Catherine Vogt, the USC (University of Southern California) Trojans will be coming out in full force at the upcoming 2012 London Olympics.
There are numerous Trojans (current, incoming and former students and club members) scheduled to compete for several countries in swimming in the pool and open water between July 28th and August 10th.
Besides gold medal favorite Rebecca Soni (USA / 100m and 200m breaststroke), Ous Mellouli (Tunisia / 200m, 400m, 1500m freestyle and 10 km) and Haley Anderson (USA / 10 km), Amanda Weir (USA / 4x100m freestyle relay), Dimitri Colupaev (Germany / 4x200m relay) and Clement Lefert (France / 100m butterfly, 4x100m freestyle relay) look to collect some Olympic gold, silver and/or bronze with Stina Gardell (Sweden / 400m individual medley), Katinka Hosszu (Hungary / 200m butterfly, 200m and 400m individual medley, 4x200m relay), Lynette Lim (Singapore / 400m freestyle), Vladimir Morozov (Russia / 100m backstroke, 4x100m freestyle relay), Cristian Quintero (Venezuela / 200m and 400m freestyle, 4x200m relay), Katarzyna Wilk (Poland / 4x200m relay) as well as Trojan Swim Club members Kosuke Kitajima (100m and 200m breaststroke, 400m medley relay), Jessica Hardy (50m and 100m freestyle, 400m freestyle relay) and Ricky Berens (4x200m relay) also in the hunt for Olympic glory.
Southern California native, born 1962, is the creator of the WOWSA Awards, Oceans Seven, Openwaterpedia, Citrus Corps, World Open Water Swimming Association, Daily News of Open Water Swimming, Global Open Water Swimming Conference. He is Chief Executive Officer of KAATSU Global and KAATSU Research Institute. Inductee in the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame (Honor Swimmer, Class of 2001) and Ice Swimming Hall of Fame (Honor Contributor - Media, Class of 2019), recipient of the International Swimming Hall of Fame's Poseidon Award (2016), International Swimming Hall of Fame's Irving Davids-Captain Roger Wheeler Memorial Award (2010), USA Swimming's Glen S. Hummer Award (2007, 2010) and Harvard University's John B. Imrie Award (1984). Served on the FINA Technical Open Water Swimming Committee and as Technical Delegate with the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games, and 9-time USA Swimming coaching staff.
