Bruckner Chase, Michele Evans-Chase and the volunteers of the Ocean City Swim Club and staff of the Bacharach Rehabilitation Hospital hold weekly Ocean Swimming & Prone Paddleboarding program for Athletes with Spinal Cord Injuries and include time with the Unified Team Paddling members in the afternoons.

In addition to the Special Olympics athletes, they help individuals with spinal cord injuries learn how to move through the water and guides open water prone paddleboarding and swimming sessions. The group were nominated for the 2013 World Open Water Swimming Offering of the Year. “We now have at least one of our Unified paddlers training to take part in the July 21st 5-mile Upper Township Beach Patrol Paddleboard Race,” explains Chase. “It is unprecedented. If we can log the training time she can make it.”
