The Channel 7 Brighton Jetty Classic is South Australia’s largest open water swim and street festival. Held on the first Sunday in February annually since 2006. It attracts a field in excess of 1,000 entries for the 1,500m and 400m swims. It also has distances for the younger ones to build confidence in the ocean, with the Austswim kids swims of 300m, 200m and 100m, so everyone from 7 years old can be involved.

The BJC 2021 event will be subject to a COVID PLAN, with measures in place and instructions on the day provided to meet the requirements of the plan. In the event of a cancellation resulting from COVID restrictions placed on gatherings by the SA Health Officer, SA Police or the State Government, entrants will be entitled to claim a refund equal to the sum paid, less $5.50 administration fee per entrant.

The Swims are run in age group waves which provides swimmers opportunity to compete in multiple events. You may enter in multiple events from this one booking page.
Water cover is provided during the swims by Brighton Surf Life Saving Club with great support from SA’s other Surf Life Saving Clubs
Swimmers are grouped by Aged Groups in the 1500m and 400m
A 400m FAMILY & FRIEND wave is available for those wishing to swim across age groups
Timing TAGS and results are provided to all swimmers

The 1500 metre course starts on the north of Brighton Jetty, swimming around heading South along the beach, turning back at the Southern Buoy, up to the tunring bouy on the southern side of the Jetty to the beach finish line on the Southern side of the Jetty.
The 400 metre course starts on the Northern side of the Jetty out around the end of the Jetty and back to the beach finish line on the Southern side of the Jetty.
The 300m , 200m, & 100 metre courses run in front of the Esplanade and event area, starting at the southern end swimming North around bouys and through the beach finish line on the Southern Side of the Jetty.
