For 2021, the Carter Lake Crossing will be an “out and back” loop swim in Carter Lake, Colorado, similar to 2020. Situated at just below 5800 feet, this nearly 3-mile swim is located in one of the most picturesque lakes in Colorado. Awards will be given out to the top three finishers in each division for each race. Divisions will be both non-wetsuit and wetsuit for both men and women for each race. Hope to see you there!
The Carter Lake Crossing will be a wave start. Participants will be grouped by seed time. Participants will receive a “line-up” time and a “start” time. Participants will be required to stay in their vehicle until “line-up” time. At line-up time, based on their wive, participants will be assigned to either an odd or an even “zone” for starting. Each wave will consist of 10 swimmers and will start 2-minutes apart. First line-up time will be 6:00 am and first start time will be 6:15 am.
Following the race, participants will be required to exit water and return to vehicle.
This will be a loop course this year due to COVID-19 restrictions on group gatherings. To reduce potential exposure pathways for the COVID-19 virus to be transmitted, there will not be busses this year and the course will be a 3 mile long “out and back” loop course starting from the South Shore boat ramp.
