ABOUT

Welcome to the Swim Across America – Rhode Island Open Water Swim! Established in 2010, SAA – RI has raised over $1 million to fund cancer research at Women and Infants Hospital Rhode Island.

Each year our Rhode Island charity swim attracts over 600 swimmers, volunteers and supporters, including Olympians who support our cause. Join us for our 12th annual swim on September 11th at scenic Roger Wheeler Beach. This popular event regulary sells out, so register early to secure your spot!

Whether you are a veteran swimmer or doing your first open water swim, we welcome you to help us “Make Waves to Fight Cancer.”

Swim Across America is dedicated to providing a safe return to events in 2021.

Fundraising Requirement:

All swimmers must raise at least $250 by event day.

WaveMaker Status: $1,000 minimum:

WaveMakers go above and beyond the call of duty by raising at least $1,000. Anyone – swimmers, volunteers, SAA My Way participants – can achieve WaveMaker status, regardless of their age. WaveMakers receive special recognition and an exclusive WM gift on event day. Learn more about WaveMaker Status here.

Swim as an Individual or on a Team

A person may elect to swim as part of a team or without team affiliation. Work colleagues, high schools, and college alumni often form teams. Friends and family may form teams in honor or memory of a loved one. Each team member must meet the $250 individual fundraising minimum.

Registration Self-Donation:

We ask swimmers to kickstart your fundraising by letting your supporters know that you are personally committed to the mission of SAA. The registration self-donation is a 100% tax deductible donation credited towards your fundraising minimum. The minimum registration self-donation amount will change as follows:

  • Register before June 12th with a registration fee of $50
  • Register between June 13th and August 7th with a registration fee of $75
  • Register between August 9th and event day with a registration fee of $100

This popular benefit swim regularly sells out. Register early to secure your spot!

Online registration will close 48 hours prior to the swim. On-site registration may be available on event day if space permits.

Waiver:

All swimmers and volunteers must complete the waiver found here.

Wetsuit Policy, Rentals and Purchases:

9:40 am: National Anthem

9:45 am: Pre-Swim Celebration Ceremony

10:05 am: Instructions / Swimmer Briefing

10:15 am: Swim begins with waves taking off approximately every three minutes
